Windows were enlarged, a new Family-Kitchen wing sits above a three-car garage to form a series of pool and garden terraces, taking advantage of the property’s rear slope. A generous sunroom and outdoor fireplace was added to the West, further connecting the home to it’s landscape.

Potential is not always obvious—but when the sentimental value of a family’s home outweighs new construction, rethinking what you have can bare some surprising results.

The original 1920’s craftsman was dark, its detailing was clumsy and the exterior upkeep was only increasing with age. With the owner not being afraid of a little color, the brick and shingles were replaced with pink granite, cast stone, stucco and patinated copper—mixing Greek Revival with India’s Mughal style.
